5. Umino Ryotei Okinawa Nakamasou
Umino Ryotei Okinawa Nakamasou opened in December 2016 and is a small modern ryokan in Okinawa. There are only 25 rooms available, offering the best, exclusive service. This hotel is also known for its seafood, so those who love a good shrimp or two should really consider this location. The Japanese Kaisei seafood for breakfast and dinner is highly recommended, offering the best quality seafood from Hokkaido.
Rooms are spacious with unique views, but the best ones are the ones with an ocean view. Request for those ones if you have the option. There are no swimming pools on-site, however, there are communal indoor baths that are great for relaxation.

The South Wing on a high floor is highly recommended for rooms as they offer great views of the sunset. If possible, avoid the North Wing as there don’t offer as great of a view there.
There is an outdoor swimming pool on the property. While they don’t have an indoor swimming pool, gym, hot bath or sauna, guests can go to the sister inn that’s located 15 mins away, The Busena Terrace, and use them for free there.

10. Halekulani Okinawa
Stretching nearly a mile down the coast of central Okinawa is Halekulani Okinawa. This is the second outpost of Hawaii’s Halekulani brand. The location of this resort is great, with easy access to tourist attractions while still being able to escape.
Opened in July 2019, all rooms offer great views of the East China Sea. There are five outdoor pools along with natural hot springs for guests to enjoy. Three out of the five pools are infinity pools. All 308 standard rooms, 47 suits and 5 villas have private balconies overlooking the sea.

11. Hoshinoya Taketomi Island
Located on Taketomi Island, Hoshinoya Taketomi Island is like a small village. It is a great escape from city life and the perfect place to experience a more laid-back atmosphere on a remote island.

13. Sankara Hotel & Spa Yakushima
Sankara Hotel & Spa Yakushima is located on Yakushima Island which is technically not in Okinawa but in Kagoshima prefecture. But it was worth listing it here as you can see in the pictures. The hotel overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by forests, waterfalls and mountains.
There are only 24 rooms here. The most luxurious one is the Sankara Suite, with its own outdoor bath and spa room. Sankara’s spa is top-notch and is highly recommended to guests. There is an extensive range of options including the Algologie seaweed facials and Eastern massages.
Guests Tips: There is free pickup and drop-off service for both the ferry port at Anbo and Yakushima Airport, but be sure to book in advance.

14. The Terrace Club at Busena
Great for a luxury vacation for adults, the Terrace Club at Busena is a great choice and is also rated as one of the best on thalassotherapy. There are various facilities on site and makes a great venue for special occasions like honeymoons, anniversaries and birthdays. The Club Deluxe Ocean room is highly recommended, as it opens out onto the ocean.
One of the facilities offered is a library lounge, with complimentary drinks available from 7:00 to 24:00. As for alcoholic drinks, complimentary wine, champagne, beer, whiskey and Okinawan liquor are available from 17:00 to 19:00.
The outdoor swimming pool is fantastic, as well as the Thalassotherapy Pool which is the highlight of the resort. On top of that, there is a small gym, a dry sauna and an exercise studio.

15. Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa & Resort
Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa & Resort is a great European-style luxury resort hotel in Okinawa. It opened in 2013 and is extremely family-friendly with an outdoor kids’ pool, kids’ playroom and a kids’ park.
Request for a room that’s on a higher floor to enjoy the best views of the ocean. Rooms facing south can enjoy great sunsets over the sea. Some rooms are facing the car park which is not the most ideal, so be sure to check with the staff.
This hotel offers arrangements of activities including water sports. The outdoor swimming pools are open between April and October, but there are also indoor swimming pools, hot springs, mist saunas, a yoga studio and a gym on the 2nd floor. Rooms like “Ocean Bath Rooms”, “Corner Rooms” or “Rooms on the Club Floor” can use the facilities on the 2nd floor for free.
Guests Tips: Enjoy complimentary drinks from 10:00 to 22:00 at the cafe called TEA Lounge.
