In the long long list of “Only In Japan” kind of things, you can now add these kawaii fruit-shaped bus stops!
They are located in the small town of Konagai in Nagasaki prefecture, along the Highway 207. And the least we can say is that they made the road so colourful!
This part of the highway is actually called “Tokimeki Fruits Basutei Dori” wich literally means “Tokimeki Fruit-shaped Bus Stop Avenue”.
In total, 16 bus stops were built along the Highway 207 and it’s said that they were inspired by the pumpkin-shaped carriage of the Disney animation movie Cinderella.
In 1990, Konagai city installed these bus stops to welcome visitors coming for the Journey Exposition 1990. But they never took them off and everyone can take pictures with them until today!
You can find here 5 kind of fruit-shaped bus stops:
- and Tomato (yes, it’s a fruit!).
Let’s have a look at them in the following pictures.
