Nebuta matsuri takes place every summer in Aomori and it’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Japanese summer festival! This year, because of the pandemic (damn Corona!), the event has been canceled.
But don’t worry! The organisers decided to organise an online event so you can enjoy the Nebuta festival from home. They will reduce the number of performers and no “on-site” fans will attend the event.
And the good news is, it’s all free!
So, how to watch the event online? First, you will have to complete this form. It takes just 2 minutes to fill it out. After that, follow the instructions and you will be good to go.
In terms of dates and times, here is the schedule:
- July 30: Pre-event from 7pm to 9pm
- August 1: Main event from 10am to 9.30pm
- August 2: Main event from 10am to 9.30pm
Notes: The times mentioned above are Japan Time.
During this online event, in addition to the Nebuta festival, you will able to watch Goshogawa Tachineputa festival, Hirosaki Neputa festival and Hachinohe Sansha Taisai festival.
As I said earlier, Nebuta festival takes place in the beautiful city of Aomori and you will be able to watch how it looks like here:
