Mt Aso Eruption Volcano

Yesterday (20th of October 2021), the volcano Nakadake (located in Mt Aso caldera) erupted in the morning sending a huge quantity of volcanic smoke to the sky.

Even if the images are quiet impressive, no victims have been reported for the moment. Few people were hiking around the volcano that day but no report of injuries has been received.

The Japan Meteorological Agency raised the alert level to 3 (on 5) and advise the public to stay at least 2km away from the crater. In addition to the toxic volcanic smoke, falling rocks and pyroclastic flows can also cause serious damage.
